our story

Two people sit together on a small bench. The bench is attached to a wooden playhouse for small children. Sam and Andrea, the school founders, are smiling. Rays of sunshine and prismatic rainbows are visible across the photo.

Puddletown started as one classroom taught by Sam Montaña Gardner and Andrea Ludlow. They met at a local Montessori school where Andrea was running the after-school theater program and Sam was teaching in the middle school. They hit it off and a few years later began looking for a space. With a puppet show to introduce Puddletown School to the community, our doors opened in 2004 with 20 eager children.

Since then, Puddletown has grown to three preschool-kindergarten classrooms, a 6-12 elementary classroom, and a middle school program for learners up to fifteen years of age. We serve over 120 families with children ages three to fifteen and continue to grow and learn from the children and families we meet each year. We are affiliated with the Oregon Montessori Association (OMA).
