Darcia (she, her) Lead Guide in Red Cedar (lower elementary)
Darcia spent her childhood on 40 acres of forested land in the mountains of Southern Oregon, riding her pony and tending to goats and chickens. An active child, she participated in track and cross country, played soccer, and performed and competed on a jump rope team. She attended Lewis & Clark College after high school, earning her BA in Russian Studies. After college, she spent five fascinating years studying and working in Russia. Following a period back in the US, she relocated to Europe again, this time to Poland, where she taught at an English school while pursuing her M.Ed. through Framingham State College’s International program. After a decade abroad, she returned to the US to complete her AMI Montessori diploma in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Once certified, she moved back to Portland to lead a lower-elementary class at the Franciscan Montessori Earth School. She eventually left the classroom to raise her children, who were born exactly 18 months apart. In her spare time, she enjoys driving her children to their activities and watching them perform in choir, musicals, and plays, as well as cuddling with her dog and two cats. She loves sharing stories from her intriguing life and being surrounded by trees.
